Thanks to the coordination of Visual Arts, this edition has proposed to bet on an exhibition that disrupts and questions the traditional ways in which exhibitions are usually presented in Boyacá, bringing to this context a group of national and international artists who depart from conventional frameworks and approach us with intelligent and challenging contemporary proposals. Instead of offering works in commonly recognizable media and formats, we have set ourselves the ambitious goal of a show where installations confront us with new ways of appropriating the space of these two wonderful historic venues.

For the first time, the Eduardo Santos House has been completely opened, and we have taken it over. What purpose does this serve? More than creating controversy (as it may well do), the presence of renowned artists with monumental works, long-term research, and innovative interventions will stimulate dialogue and produce fruitful reflections on the role of art and culture in the region. Instead of being merely passive, complacent, and decorative objects, these works will connect with proposals from other national and international contexts.

If that is the notion of the sublime for Boyacá, we propose to desublimate it and consider another perspective in which art itself becomes the excuse to question the precepts that have been transmitted to us about the territory. Because every historical narrative is also questionable; history is not a thread of incontrovertible events but a flexible, expandable, and modifiable patchwork cloak. By taking over the house, we aim to modify history.
